Axis

This full back piece draws inspiration from Egyptian mythology, combining two Sphinx cats, a scarab, and a stylized ornamental sun into a single design, built around the spine as its central axis. Created to embody entrepreneurship and the dialogue between the ancient and the modern, the project reflects qualities deeply rooted in the client’s personality, lifestyle, and personal story. The mirrored Sphinx cats create a sense of balance and guardianship, while the scarab establishes a strong vertical structure that connects the entire composition from the neck to the lower back. Flowing through the center, the ornamental sun acts as both a symbolic and visual anchor, allowing the body itself to complete the design. What makes this piece particularly meaningful within Renan’s portfolio is the inclusion of ancient visual imagery, reinterpreted through modern shapes, bold contrast, and body-conscious composition. The result is a tattoo that feels timeless and contemporary. The neck is fresh in this photo, the rest of the piece is healed. By Renan Batista.
