Chang’e and the White Jade Rabbit

Drawing from the Chinese legend of Chang’e and the Jade Rabbit, this composition transforms a cherished memory into a scene of celestial tranquility. Created in remembrance of the client’s rabbit, the piece celebrates the lasting bond between companions through the language of mythology. Rendered in luminous blues with warm accents of gold and amber, the work depicts a serene goddess gazing toward the horizon while her faithful rabbit, modeled after the client's own pet, remains close at her side. More than a symbolic figure, Delia portrays the rabbit as a devoted guardian and companion, embodying themes of affection, loyalty, and selfless love. The gradual light of dawn emerging behind the moon suggests the endless rhythm of night and day, a quiet reminder that love and memory persist beyond absence. Through the poetic beauty of Eastern mythology, the piece invites viewers to reflect on companionship, loss, and the enduring presence of those who remain with us in spirit. By Delia Brody.
