Haukur's Sleeve

This full sleeve was created for Haukur, whose name translates to “Hawk” in Icelandic. After overcoming a serious illness, he came to Renan for a tattoo that reflected both his resilience and his appreciation for beauty. The final composition combines a powerful hawk with florals and a serpent, creating thematic balance between strength and grace, aggression and sensitivity. Designed to flow naturally around the arm, the piece alternates between bold focal points and open breathing spaces, allowing each element to support the next while maintaining visual readability throughout the sleeve. The project began in Berlin and was ultimately completed in Iceland, adding another layer of meaning to a tattoo already deeply connected to its wearer. More than a design with animals and flowers, the piece is a representation of duality, embodying the quiet strength, discipline, and balance that carried Haukur through one of the most challenging chapters of his life.
