Lachesis

This full back piece depicts Lachesis, the Greek Fate responsible for measuring the thread of life. Created for a fellow tattoo artist who entrusted Renan with complete artistic freedom, the project evolved through multiple consecutive sessions into a composition centered around destiny, femininity, and flow. The figure was designed to encompass the entire back, with the portrait occupying the body’s largest visual plane. Around the subject, ornamental elements and symbolic details extend naturally into the shoulders, spine, and hips. The balance between bold structural elements and intentional selections of open skin create an image that allows the piece to feel both powerful and graceful at the same time. Completed at the Mondial du Tatouage in Paris, the tattoo was selected among the final seven backpieces out of nearly one hundred entries judged, by some of the most respected names in tattooing. More significantly, the project became a defining example of Renan’s approach to large-scale work, merging anatomical composition, artistic freedom, and long-term collaboration into a single piece of art.
