Milan Bird

This large-scale sidepiece depicts a Milan bird, inspired by the client’s life as a shepherd in the Swiss Alps, where he spends several months each year living alone in the mountains caring for livestock. Originally conceived as a dragon tattoo, the project evolved through conversation into something far more personal. The composition stretches from the armpit toward the knee, allowing the bird’s wingspan to compliment the body’s entire vertical structure. Renan gave particular attention to the placement of the head between the hips and upper leg, creating a subtle hinge effect that makes the bird appear to take flight as the client walks. Combining symbolic storytelling with anatomical flow, this project exemplifies Renan’s approach of creating compositions that look like they belong on the body, rather than being placed on top of it.
